Woo York – Analogue Swamp EP

While some of you might think of Planet Rhythm as one of those old labels from back in the day, it may not necessarily be the correct judgement. Not only is it a product of its past achievements, but it’s also pushing things forward in the present time, with Woo York being one of a few new artists emerging from the imprint’s recent catalogue. That said, 2014 starts with Ukrainian duo taking over Planet Rhythm headquarters as the label’s proprietors and getting in charge of all of its future development.

First out of press is the duo’s own EP highlighting their shift towards brand new, hardware-driven studio setup. From abstract TB-303-ish structures of Acid Rain, through the building peaks of Analogue Swamp, a perfect example of stripping functional techno, to Come Closer’s uplifting trance-y melodies and the closing sequence of Strobe 1, this record is shaping up to be Woo York’s strongest release to date.

ZZT return with a surprisingly accessible monster. Givin In is built around a massive vocal and piano-house breakdown. The sampleriffic pop EDM mega-moment will take over any dance floor, raising hands, eyebrows, sport bras and smiles before washing away to the tune of a hiss cannon, sizzling into the kind of analog-synth and percussion hijinks we’ve come to expect from ZZT.

In support there is SyZZTem 700 Bonus Beats, a jacking DJ tool packed with a rapid fire barrage of bumping beats, modular bass, and morse code funk. 100% tried and tested at club, festival and car level to kick it up a vibe. ZZT are back.

Man from Tomorrow

Jacqueline Caux has completed a film with Jeff Mills. With partial voiceover by Jeff Mills himself it shows his creative output. Titled “Man From Tomorrow” it features interviews and an exclusive yet unreleases soundtrack. Here’s the official trailer:

“Understanding what Man From Tomorrow could possibly mean and say to others, we greatly discussed the ways of how we could go about materializing this in a manner that detaches the subject away from normality. We wanted to show what deep thoughts, dream escapes and unconventional expressions of our future could look, sound and feel like through ever-expanding and dimensional lens of Techno”
